and some new pics…I cannot wait to see Parker, and my mum is going to come with us to see it. LOL! I think her taste would be more suited to Les Miserables. If my dad was still with us, he’d be all over seeing Parker…he loved Transporter and the Bank Job. Happy viewing Team Statham!
uuuuggghhh, my previous comment is awaiting moderation and that probably won’t be happen for some time.
anyway, parker reviews are showing up and they actually sound worse than what I have heard before.
I saw the movie last night, it wasn’t great but I liked it, the action sequences are really well made and really intense, the story is good except for some ridiculous moments I didn’t care much for the bad guys of the film and not Jennifer’s or Patti Lupone’s fault but their characters are badly written unfortunately, Jason is at his best, he did a great job even if I’d like to see him in something different. 6.5/10.
@Jeanne: yes, it did $7m this weekend. that qualifies as a bomb.
but I wouldn’t worry too much about it. first of all: it beat Schwarzenegger’s The Last Stand, even though Parker got a lot worse Reviews.
also every movie is doing kinda terrible right now(releasing a string of action movies is not helping each movie) and Statham doesn’t get big BO numbers.
Statham usually opens with around $10m, but he does really well in europe and on DVD/blu-ray. I hope he returns to $10+m with Homefront and that all the bad BO numbers are because of bad reviews and poor release timing.
the $7m could also mark a downward trend for him(Mechanic did about 11m, Killer Elite 9m and Safe nearly 8m). a fatigue of the Statham formula and a sign that he should stop the criminal with a set of rules thing for a while.
@Brotham I don’t understand why people take notice of people who review films as a lot of the time they say how bad it is I end up liking it. I just don’t know why people don’t go and see it on their own thoughts. I would like to see Jason do something a bit different! I know that Jason doesn’t want to but Gerard Butler has managed to have a good career by doing different genres, and has managed to stay with certain types of characters.
@Sara: there are people who like movies that most critics dislike, and then there are people who agree with critics. and the latter group reads reviews.
also let’s not forget that reviews are opinions. most critics give good reasons why they liked or didn’t like certain things in movies. and you can evaluate yourself if those points are important to you or not.
ofcourse it depends on the reviewer. there might be a reviewer with similar taste like yours out there.
why people don’t go and see it on their own thoughts? I can imagine that a lot of people prefer to look at a review for 10 minutes, than to spend 2-4 hours to go to a movietheater, spend 20bucks on tickets and sometimes as much on food, just to have a bad time.
I read and see reviews on movies, but I don’t always follow the reviewer’s advice. Usually I go with one critic that I agree with him most of the time. This particular critic gave Parker 2 out of 5…he likes Jason Statham very much, but he wanted more…me too, but the movie has to move briskly along…
If anyone is interested in reading my opinion on Parker, you can check out my blog that jayfan has linked on side bar (Dawn’s blog).
I am currently working on the magical script that will be the perfect fit for Jason and keep us all happy and satisfied, wow the critics, and get Jason over that “typical Statham movie” hurdle. lol! @Brotham – Hummingbird does sound a promising challange to that “typical Statham movie syndrome BO apathy” you suggest. March release? I will be there!
