i think he’s telling the truth about his bday being in july! 😀 i dont think he’d outright lie about it…if he didnt want to make a big deal out of it, i’d guess he’d decline to answer the question or give a vague answer like ‘i dont really celebrate it’.
Going to see Killer tomorrow, can’t wait. I bought Blitz from Amazon and liked it a lot. The Brit language fell a little short on my southern ears at times but I watched it a second time and it was better.
@Ella…..I love Jason’s action roles and have always been a fan. In saying this however, I tend to agree with you. I’m beginning to fear our man is being “pigeon-holed” and I believe he would benefit from branching out into another genre. Many reviews lately for Killer Elite have mentioned the movie being another formulaic Statham movie…..this hurts me because he is so wonderful and talented.
@Corrina yeah that’s definitely the problem, “Parker” might be something different for him it’s more a crime/film a noir and not an action film at least if it’s like the book, could be a good move for him, but he need to try different genre, nothing radically different but he should have different options.
Jason knows “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”. What about The Bank Job, Expendables, Crank. They were all different in their own way. Clint Eastwood tried something different, Paint Your Wagon. AWFUL…………he is Eastwood. We know when we see his movies we are going to see a strong, tough manly role, and that’s what we want.. I think Jason could do something with a bit of romance in it as long as it wasn’t some wishy washy henpecked part like some of the movies lately.
@Oleredhead…..I agree that Jason’s movies do have variations and differ from one another…as a fan I see that. I also agree that Jason is a tough guy and that is what many want to see. I just don’t want to see Jason’s movies be considered another formulaic action picture as I said in my other post. I personally would really just like to see Jason branch out a bit. Believe me, I don’t want to see him in a cheesy romantic comedy either..lol!!
Clint Eastwood is a perfect example of the type of roles I would love to see Jason partake in. Clint as you stated is a strong, masculine figure who although is known for being tough, was able to not allow that label to entirely define him in Hollywood or the role choices he was given. He has been given the opportunity to be strong yet vulnerable i.e. Bridges of Madison County, Gran Torino, Play Misty for me. I’m proud of Jason and will forever see his movies, I just want him to be as successful as he deserves to be, and be offered the roles that he is deserving of.
@oleredhead well it’s kind of broke, but I agree about the movies you mentioned. And I’m not saying something radically different, it’s probably easier to say than to do for him anyway I don’t think he get offered everything he wants to do. He said in an interview that after he’s done filming the Expendable he’s gonna take a break and see what he want to do next so we’ll see.
Have read on a German site that the next Bond fim will be the last one for Daniel Craig…there is nothing about a new Bond but perhaps they decide for Jason for the next film.
Daniel said he has to train really hard for the film and he hates it and we all know and see that Jason is in better shape than Daniel.
In my opinion, they should give Jason a chance. I would like it to see him in these movie… 🙂
@marie thats ok I have missed the Jayfan site as I have been in hospital with my son since tuesday as he broken the bone just above his wrist so I am having Jason withdrawal. Feel better now as I have caught up on things!
right now I’m very amused by the comments on celebitchy.com 😀
anyway, Lundgren and Couture are already in bulgaria and do some Expendables 2 stuff. I wonder if they are already filming.
Stallone has been spotted in beverly hills(back with a goatee) and Parker is still filming(they are filming at some art school now).
I hope we get more Expendables 2 peeks and updates this time around thanks to twitter and facebook. Terry Crews will twitter a million things for sure!
@Brotham Jennifer said that her last on Paker was Monday and I think for Jason too, the movie will wrap this friday an they’re not filming with the leads right now. Jason said that he will have 1 or 2 weeks off before starting his work on The Expendables
Just saw Killer Elite and I didn’t enjoy it. Statham was really good in it, Clive Owen was good too, would have loved to see more of Yvonne Strahovski and DeNiro was just getting a paycheck.
I had my issues with The Mechanic, but atleast The Mechanic worked as a movie. Killer Elite never does. The writing is bad, the pacing is bad and then there’s a story that doesn’t really feel like it’s worth telling, but that is also pointless in the end. Sure, pointless is realistic, but I’m not going into the cinema to experience that.
I can see why the film has flopped. The advertisement show us a perfect team. Statham, Owen, De Niro. Awesome, I’m sold. But then they rip them apart and team them up with bland, but at the same time terrible, sidekicks that I don’t want to see. It takes forever to get Statham vs Owen, but that doesn’t last too long either and then we get the talk of “you don’t get the big picture” and we sure as hell don’t get the big picture we all hoped for(I hope you get the pun).
This movie could have been great, if it was Statham vs Owen from the start to the finish. Playing cat and mouse. But it’s not. It’s Statham hangs out with weird greasy guys, kills some dudes in elaborate albeit uninteresting ways, Owen talks to old men and we get to hear some of the most stereotypical lines of the political thriller genre. They put in a few pretty good action scenes, so atleast the movie will make a fine 10 minute youtube clip.
Weirdly enough the Statham movie I liked most this year went straight to DVD. I really liked Blitz. Even though it starts out rather poorly(feels like a UK police TV show at the beginning) the characters are really great and after it gets going it’s throughout enjoyable. I’d love if Statham continues to play Brant.
@brotham I feel the same way about Killer Elite the story could of been a bit faster paced. The story need something a bit more. I think I have a new favorite film of Jason’s which is Blitz. Loved the characters and the story line the pace. I hope Jason would do some more of these, if they had made Blitz for a bigger market I think this could of done really well and better than Killer Elite.
ok…so Killer Elite was not what we all thought it would be. Did it suck? In my opinion, no. I paid opening price on opening day for it and I’m glad I did. Will I see it again in theaters…no. When I saw Expendables, I couldn’t wait to see it the next day..and I did.
However, I did not like Blitz any better (or worse). I got it the first day of opening (so to speak) in US and liked it, but still something missing. Loved his portrayal of Brandt!I just think he has not found his nitche in breaking into the big screen using his talents as he has mastered in the earlier movies. Perhaps an awesome role in the small screen would do well for him as an actor and a household name!
Chasman needs to get to work and get him the bigger and better roles as I believe we all agree his chops are something to talk about! He needs a breakout of the British Bad Guy role, but not too far out of his current genre. I really think his collaborative team is picking the wrong roles for him and he is way better an actor and talent to continue to “B” movies.
He’s better than that! Just sayin…..
I’m with Karen. I didn’t feel it disappointed by any means. Yes, I thought I was going in to watch one thing and walked away with a surprise – but I like that. I guess I’m odd. I thought the story was passable, it could be followed and honestly that’s pretty much my standard along with being enjoyable. I guess you can call me easy as well.
I liked the pacing. I can’t stand being ripped around the movie at lighting speeds and, in all honesty, I think it was trying to take a step back in the telling. One thing I learned in film class, when movies first hit theaters for the viewing by the general public – if the location needed to change, film makers HAD to show images of the character stepping on transportation and leaving FOR the location and then arriving. Without this, people were LOST. Eventually people caught on to movies and this element could be dropped. This jumped out at me a LOT with Killer Elite (which is why I feel they were trying to get more into a ‘past’ feel since it was suppose to be 1980s) – they kept showing the airplanes take off. They kept showing Jason on the plane. But they used it to the advantage of showing flashbacks and thoughts as a wind-down. (Which was also very present: low, build up, climax, wind down flow.)
I guess I’d have to disagree with the lot of you. For me, film is film. He’s being put on screens around the world. I don’t care if it’s labeled “B” or “major motion picture”. Frankly, I’ve found I’ve enjoyed “B” movies a heck of a lot more than the fluff-n-stuff of crap being put out by the “big boys”. Last I saw, it doesn’t seem to be hurting his wallet by any means. He’s enjoying himself and I think that means more to him than the paycheck.
@Karen: yes, he needs a break out, but there’s a problem. While Statham would have found a million roles in the 80s, they don’t really do those movies anymore.
For example the action comedy genre is completely gone. Nobody would do a Tango&Cash nowadays.
In my opinion it would be best for him if he went down with the budgets of his movies and his salary, but upped the quality of his movies. The money might be gone someday, the movies woun’t.
@Ras: totally agree! I’m delighted to see him having the time of his life and doing what he loves…he deserves it and does his craft well. As long as he’s happy, that’s all I care about and I will continue to buy each of his movies regardless.
@Brotham: good point and you’re totally right….Hollywood really doesn’t do his genre on a big scale anymore.
I get the feeling he’s the type of guy who doesn’t give a rat’s ass what the critics say and cares more about what we think anyway!
@lienka…thank you for the link…but could somebody please say me what they say about Jason?? Is he selling the house he has bought from Ben Stiller or that he has sold a Hollywood home to buy Bens house for 7.5 million??
@ Marie…that Jason bought Ben Stiller’s house but they didn’t know if Rosie was going to move in with him….also if you want to be living next to Jason the house next door was up for sale..i also think the house next door is Ben Stillers ( might have heard wrong)?
I think he has sold his bachelor pad and has bought one of Ben Stiller’s homes for 7.3 million. The house next door, also Stiller’s, is still for sale. Rosie just bought a new condo in Manhatten, so who knows where either of them will live.
I think he sold the bachelor pad as due to him needing a bit more Privacy and the paps waiting outside the old house. I hope maybe he might have a few days where we can see him before he starts Expendables 2.
