After reading this AMC Sci-Fi blog, it looks like Jason was justified in deciding not to help promote Uwe Boll’s ‘In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale’ when it was released at the theatres. Uwe was pissed and he said so in several interviews. But there are others out there that think Uwe sucks and are amazed how many good Hollywood actors have taken parts in his films. They created a list of those actors and Jason was one of them.
2. Jason Statham, In The Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale (2008)
Over the last few years, Jason Statham has become a sort of new, ironic Bruce Willis. He’s at his best when either ignoring the action flicks altogether (Snatch, Revolver) or subverting the genre’s cliches in over-the-top fare like Crank. When he’s plopped straight into the middle of a fantasy period video game adaptation, Statham’s ruggedly badass charm stagnates. Boll’s “epic” is too silly to be taken seriously, yet too serious to be taken as mindless, self-aware fun. As the movie’s main character (creatively dubbed “Farmer”), Statham earns our respect for giving it his all, but still ends up looking rather confused and irritated.

OMG, I hated this movie! I’ve still not even seen the whole thing beginning to end, because I have yet to be able to sit through the torture of watching the whole thing! I’ve tried, like, three times, but I just can’t handle it. Even with hottie J in it, there’s no redeeming this garbage. I’m also anti-Uwe Boll, and the cast of this film really should have made for a good movie, but Uwe really does suck.

Ehh I hate Leelee Sobieski(she just annoys me for some reason) and anything fantasy like that so I will never watch even a minute of this movie.
I don’t blame him for not promoting it.

i forgot i had that movie… bad lyssa bad! lmao
May 5, 2009 at 11:39 am
Logan, I agree, I hate LeeLee Sobi-whatever-her-name-is too. But Ray Liotta, Burt Reynolds? C’mon, they’re way better than this. So is J, obviously, and Claire Forlani; even Matthew Lillard should’ve known better than to say yes to this film.

I’m a pretty big film buff and I always try to conduct a pretty substantial survey of a director’s work before I have an opinion. I’ve seen three Uwe Boll films and I honestly can’t believe people are paying this guy to direct films. In the Name of the King is by far the worst I’ve seen, I mean even the musical score was misleading and badly directed! I think Jason really did do his best, though. In fact, I thought he was better than Ray Liotta–that guy really hammed it up, it was ridiculous.

I didn’t care for this movie either, but I simply couldn’t resist a movie where J plays a husband and father, therefore I own it. When I watch it again, I’ll fast forward to just his scenes…lol
May 5, 2009 at 2:15 pm
I watched it but just because of Jason. I think he looked awsome. But that’s it.

Is Stathamfan Jayfan’s husband?
May 5, 2009 at 7:42 pm
HEH? lol

Women’s intuition. I should not have asked. Pretend I didn’t. We are all anonymous here!
May 5, 2009 at 8:21 pm
lmao dont you hate that, when you got a hunch about something and it always turn out to be right? damn women’s intuition lol
May 5, 2009 at 8:51 pm
umm Jaz and Lyssa I don’t think you were right lol. I think that Stathamfan is from Romania and I got the vibe that the person writing those comments was female? AHaha sorry I shouldn’t have bothered saying this because it is off-topic.
May 5, 2009 at 9:00 pm
i know stathamfan is female, at least i hope so anyway LOL! dont apologize for being off topic, we all go way the hell off topic often lol im about to go off topic by saying i got a bad craving for white castle lol

I watch this movie at least once a week. Why, cause it’s so awful, it’s a hoot. Burt Reynolds and Ray Liotta so overacted. I watch for the grimaces on Jason’s face when he delivers some of his lines. I think the “Give me the Chicken” and the growl are the worst lines in the movie, right before, “Gouge evil from it’s shell” and “Can I get a lick of wine?” LOL
May 5, 2009 at 9:21 pm
the director dude had no right to be pissed cause jason didn’t promote the movie, if it wasn’t for jason mostly and the other actors the movie would have been more effed up… i dont think the other actors bothered to promote it either lol oh yeah what was the line “Courage Never Fails…” lol
May 5, 2009 at 9:26 pm
Rats. Was I the first to use the phrase “on topic”? I was mostly talking about myself (not u Logan or anyone else) because I tend to tangent. I created drama par hasard. I think I will stick to translating when it is needed. Anyway, I have not seen the Uwe Boll movie, but with all this discussion, it sounds like it is so bad, I must see it immediately. A “bad-movie-we-love-to-hate-and-hate-to-love”.
May 5, 2009 at 9:32 pm
a guilty pleasure so to speak lol
May 5, 2009 at 10:47 pm
That woman intuition didn’t work this time. I think, man logic did. Yes, Logan, you are right. I am a woman and I am from Romania.

I know that this is going to cause some turbulences but I have to post it

Are those bubbles??
May 5, 2009 at 11:39 pm
This is one of two Statham movies that shouldn’t have been made. I watched it on my Digital Cable & it was TERRIBLE! It’s two hours of my life I am never getting back. Every actor in it sucked except for Jason’s…it made no sense. Actor’s who are English didn’t use their accents & those that are not English tried to have an accent & failed miserably. I watched the director’s comments about J on YouTube, don’t blame J, you’re the director, you’re the one that sucks, he just happened to make a shitty movie!
May 6, 2009 at 6:25 am
aww that’s a sweet pic lol we dont see that all the time
and that’s my point exactly mary, don’t blame the actor just because you suck lol jason probably knew it sucked that’s why he didn’t take the time out to promote it, i wouldn’t either lol
May 6, 2009 at 7:51 am
Well whoever wrote the movie also sucks in my opinion. And usually when people try to change their accent they fail unless they are trained really well or are hugh jackman or colin farrell something ahaha. If he was supposed to promote it then he should have but I suppose he can’t lie and tell people to go and see it when he doesn’t feel that they should so thats why I can understand him not doing so. The director has a right to be angry but at the same time he can’t blame him for the entire film being bad.
Alexa:I don’t have a problem with you or any of your comments so I’m not really sure what you are talking about. Like I said before I knew you were translating that comment that someone else wrote. I hope that is cleared up now?
May 6, 2009 at 8:15 am
random thought: i can’t get that damn song outta my head… it’s this song called Doo Doo Brown. it’s effin ANNOYING lmao
May 6, 2009 at 9:23 am
@ Mary: “two hours of my life I am never getting back” LOL Maybe I’ll skip it.
May 6, 2009 at 1:46 pm
I’ve never been into shows that have sorcery but this show i don’t think is that bad. Jason playing a husband and father was a enjoyable, his action moves and acting as usual is a joy to me …there was alot of humor i enjoyed that…..i thought all the actors and actresses performed excellently. I don’t feel that this show should be considered a total flop. This show is not the best i’ve seen but it is far from the worst i’ve seen. I don’t know about Boll’s work, in over all i can say i did like In the Name of the King.
May 6, 2009 at 3:14 pm
Hello Stathamfan! I love that pic (from the fotofama link) you posted! It looks spontaneous and shows some intimacy! Who says J&A never show PDA?
I love how the article says “he found a package worth opening”
May 6, 2009 at 3:40 pm
Dr. body language decoder here from the oreilly factor on fox with some tips!
Statham never puts his arm around her. Intimate people touch their loves with their hands on their backs, necks or stomachs. But he is passive and his spine is stiff. See, his hands are no where near her! The girl leans in for the smooch and his head is arched back. This is not a deep passionate love.
May 6, 2009 at 4:29 pm
never say never. Im sure I have seen sum pics with his arm around her. I will look x
May 6, 2009 at 4:29 pm
wow that’s funny lol
May 6, 2009 at 4:35 pm
and if ya think about it maybe he’s not big on PDA, so when the doors are shut it might be a different story altogether lol
May 6, 2009 at 6:41 pm
This totally cracks me up. funnier than even Logan! Not a big believer in divining via photgraphs but it’s true he was all over kelly b and lovey dovey in almost every candid I’ve seen.
May 6, 2009 at 6:44 pm
this is true…
May 6, 2009 at 7:14 pm
Something is definately missing. He seems happy enough but not like he did with Kelly. Maybe he’s counting the days until he heads for New Orleans and she’s stays behind.
May 7, 2009 at 3:06 am
If he feels that way then why not leave her now? I dont see why he would stay with her so long if there wasnt something there. Maybe he doesnt want to marry her but that dont mean he doesnt love her. Kelly is a diff person, this is a diff relationship.
May 7, 2009 at 4:30 am
I don’t know how he feels, I just know how it looks. But you are right, every relationship is different. If it works for him that’s his business. Maybe their relationship has moved from passion to comfort. It happens.
May 7, 2009 at 7:42 am
this is also true…
May 9, 2009 at 10:18 am
Maybe Alex isn’t into all the touchy-feely stuff in public. Or maybe Statham is doing his protect-his-personal-life thing by being more aloof with her. Regardless, the nuzzling picture is nice.
May 9, 2009 at 3:37 pm
My wish for Jason is for him to be happy, in love, married to a good woman, and about four little Stathams hanging on to him every step he makes…
