‘Death Race’ was third this weekend with a box office profit of $12,293,000 according to Box Office Mojo. I’d say that’s a pretty good dollar amount. We weren’t expecting number one, but the critics didn’t expect the film to do that well either so…in their face! I think the R rating hurt it because I know there were kids who wanted to see the movie and couldn’t. When we went to see it, there were a lot of older men scattered here and there by themselves, a few couples and no kids.
On a related note, the L.A. Times had box office figures as well, but also they had a nice comment about our Jason from the president of Media by Numbers. He talked about us! We’re the ‘following’!
Opening in third place this weekend with an estimated $12.3 million was Universal Pictures’ testosterone-fueled “Death Race,” a gritty R-rated remake of a 1975 film about car races with life-or-death stakes starring Jason Statham. The film’s gross fell below expectations, but was consistent with opening totals for past Statham films such as “Transporter 2,” said Paul Dergarabedian, president of box-office tracker Media by Numbers.
“Jason Statham has a following,” he said. “This is in line with how his movies do. It’s an intriguing film.”

August 25, 2008 at 6:39 am
Woohoo! rock and roll team statham!
August 25, 2008 at 8:28 am
I know I did my part by seeing it twice!!!!
August 25, 2008 at 9:34 am
HEY FANGIRLS!
You know my origin and you know that the frenchies are reputed to be rebellious!!
so, for me it s the revolution on the site today
because we all say “TEAM STATHAM”, you re ok?
for me a team is all stand , ok??
so, for me if we are a team that s meaning we are the support of Jason whatever happens, ok??
so in a team everybody is important, we have need of all the persons, ok?otherwise it doesn t go, ok?
so, fangirls , i say we have a woman in the sea…Donna…
i know everybody makes and say and think what he wants, but…
what do we do???
August 25, 2008 at 9:45 am
I tried gecko! I want everybody to get along too. But I don’t want both Court and Donna Marie to go away. I really like both of them and they’ve helped me out tremendously in the past.
August 25, 2008 at 9:48 am
i know my friend it will be cool , i m sure!
August 25, 2008 at 9:59 am
Oleredhead, Leasa has a question for you over at this post…
http://jayfan.wordpress.com/2008/08/22/crave-online-interview/
August 25, 2008 at 10:08 am
Thanks Jayfan – I was wondering if people went back to old questions or not.
Also – I would kind of like to discuss some of his movies – has anyone watched Revolver the required 10 times to be able to discuss it? Or has everyone already talked it to death before I got here?
August 25, 2008 at 10:24 am
I recall some discussion about Revolver in the past. Mostly about his hair and acting. Sadly, I’m not the one to discuss this one with since it wasn’t my favorite.
August 25, 2008 at 12:30 pm
No me gusta mucho el cine, Revolver, fue una película muy extraña para mí.
Pero había una película donde actúan los me sorprendió positivamente Jason. La película fue Londres, el papel de Jason era muy muy bueno
August 25, 2008 at 12:32 pm
Sorry, I put the comment in Spanish hehe
I don’t like much the movie, Revolver, was a movie too strange for me.
But there was a movie where the acting positively surprised me Jason. The film was London, the role of Jason was very very good
August 25, 2008 at 12:33 pm
Have you seen it enuf times? and did you get to watch the first one before Guy cut so much out (to supposedly make it easier to understand)?
August 25, 2008 at 12:38 pm
You know, we didn’t see the first one because of the zone thingie. We had ordered the U.K. version, but couldn’t get the machine to play it even though we had the work around and we never had that problem before…I guess I shouldn’t be saying that outloud and get arrested. Ha! Someday I’ll give it another chance. Jason’s acting in London was superb!
August 25, 2008 at 1:09 pm
i loved Revolver and London!yeah i have the first version of Revolver and i can say that Jay is wonderful, mysterious…Big composition, in my opinion…that s more “intellectual”,ok, and i think we have a good idea of the talent of Jason.
August 25, 2008 at 1:24 pm
Revolver is a movie you have to watch a few times for it to really makes sense. When I first watched it I wasn’t sure if I was going to like it but now it’s one of my favorites! I agree with Gecko, it’s a very intellectual movie. As for London, that’s an okay movie. For me, the only real saving grace is Jason. In my opinion he makes the movie worth watching! If he weren’t in it, it would just be a boring mess.
And Jayfan, I’m not going anywhere! I’m a big girl so it takes a lot to offend me. Besides, I was a terror in boarding school so I’ve learned that if people dish it out, they have to willing to take it too
August 25, 2008 at 1:51 pm
Thanks for sticking around, Court!
August 25, 2008 at 1:53 pm
Court , i m sure you are an angel!go on my friend i love your reflections!!
August 25, 2008 at 2:21 pm
I DIDNT DISH ANYTHING! THAT IS IT! I SAID NOTHING BAD TO YOU BUT U WERE JUST PLAIN NASTY TO ME AND YOU DONT EVEN CARE! I WAS ACTUALLY NICE TO YOU. IM SORRY BUT THAT IS IT FOR ME AND THIS PLACE. THAT WAS A COMMENT TOO FAR FOR ME TO TAKE.
August 25, 2008 at 2:38 pm
Donna , whom are you talk?
August 25, 2008 at 2:41 pm
This is getting out of hand. Please do not do this on my website.
August 25, 2008 at 2:42 pm
And I didn’t say anything bad to you. If you recall I refrained from telling you what I truly felt, and I will do the same today. This is over for me because I’m not going to argue with you. It’s pointless and a waste of my time. Besides I said all I have to say to you last evening Donna Marie. If you choose to stay, that’s great for those that want you here. I, on the other hand, will ignore you from this moment on.
August 25, 2008 at 2:48 pm
My sincerest apologies Jayfan, there will be nothing more from me other than to discuss what this board is for…. Jason.
August 25, 2008 at 2:49 pm
Yes you did Court. You were very nasty and it upset me. I wasnt to you and there was really no need for ur reaction and theres no need to ignore me either because I dont have a problem with you but Im Im not staying so you and everyone else will be happy.
August 25, 2008 at 2:51 pm
An angel Gecko? I don’t know about that, but I do try
August 25, 2008 at 3:02 pm
Just an apology to you all about the arguing. I wish I hadnt have got so upset but I did. Ive sent an email to Jayfan to apologise as well.
Court, theres really no need to ignore me cos I honestly do not have a problem with you. I dont like how you spoke to me but Im not going to ignore you over it.
August 25, 2008 at 3:06 pm
Thank you!
August 25, 2008 at 3:10 pm
Okay, back to Jason
It sucks that it didn’t make more money but at least it was in the top five. I guess third place isn’t that bad, although first is definitely better
August 25, 2008 at 3:11 pm
I bet it kicks ass in DVD rental and sales! That would put it over the top.
August 25, 2008 at 3:14 pm
I agree with you Jayfan. I hope it does well in the overseas market too.
August 25, 2008 at 3:15 pm
WOWO!!it promises to be hot!
Please girls, can we talk in the happiness and the good mood??
August 25, 2008 at 3:20 pm
Sorry, i m in the shift!!
Death Race ll release on october in france but i m sure it will be a top because it s the kind of movie that people loves.I have a regret they have translate the title in french…so it s average!
August 25, 2008 at 3:31 pm
Of course we can talk in happiness and be in a good mood. Life is fantastic so why wouldn’t we?
I’m sorry about the translation Gecko. It does leave a lot to be desired. I was in Paris when I saw one of Jason’s movies, and boy was it different. You don’t get the full effect of that voice. Sadly it’s just not the same
August 25, 2008 at 3:34 pm
I agree Court. I honestly didnt expect it to do very well. A lot of people on IMB kept trying to compare it to the original which isnt fair because its not really a remake as such. From what Ive seen it seems like one of those films which you have to enjoy for what it is. A lot of fast cars and violence.
I gotta wait til Sept 25th so I’ll be sure to let you all know what I think and the box office numbers for UK
August 25, 2008 at 3:36 pm
I dont think I could properly enjoy a Jason movie if they didnt use his voice. Thats ine of the things I like best about him. I could listen to his voice all day. Why do they dub it? I thought English would be well known enough?
August 25, 2008 at 3:40 pm
His voice just makes me melt. I don’t know if I could enjoy it either. However, seeing a naked or shirtless Jason rates at the top of the musts though. Ha!
August 25, 2008 at 3:44 pm
In fact they have found the good voice now and i must say it s not bad!but it s not the original! LOL! and you know i say that:when you go to the theater you try to know what kind of movie you ll watch, so violence is a choice…if you don t like you don t go!
it s funny because (it s not a critic just a remark) in the United States you have so much violence and people seem to be chock by that…????i don t understand can you enlight me please?
August 25, 2008 at 3:46 pm
Jayfan it will be areal real pleasure believe me!!
August 25, 2008 at 4:49 pm

August 25, 2008 at 7:04 pm
OH MY GOD! I am so sorry, especially to you Court. I spent the entire weekend in airports. I was actually responding from an airport bar last night (after a 41/2 hour delay)! Please excuse my bit@#iness. My travels actually started at LAX. I travel to LA alot for work. I have some really good friends there and they love the party scene. They send me stuff about Jason sometimes but unfortuately, they are not Statham fans. They like to call me an rub it in whenever they see him out. One of them actually called me from Trader Joes(I think it’s a grocery store) Jason was shopping and my friend said that he as an absolute mess with sloppy clothes and flip flops. Of course I said “yummy” now get up close to him and put me on your speaker phone! Anyway.. My apologies and thanks for the insight. It looks like Alex, the self proclaimed socialite is in fact history.
August 25, 2008 at 7:20 pm
Ugh I know all too well about those damn delays jlm. Nothing is worse than wanting to get on your flight yet you sit for hours in the airport. All I have to say is thank goodness for the first class lounge and private jets. Lol.
Trader Joe’s is an awesome store, one of my favorites actually. Their food is quite unique and very yummy! You should move out here and then you can see yummy Jason for yourself
August 25, 2008 at 7:21 pm
Of course they werent fans lol hey if the man wants to look a hot mess, not shower 4 days and be straight nasty then he can lmao i still love him and he still kicks ass lol oh and donna i added u sweetie… im sorry u got stuck in the airport jlm hey i’d love to be in LA rite now lol
August 25, 2008 at 7:27 pm
I don’t know about the not showering for 4 days thing. He can look like he hasn’t showered for 4 days but I don’t know if I’d want to smell that. Lol.
August 25, 2008 at 7:38 pm
Yeah u right but u get the idea lmao oh i do have a facebook i forgot my addy im never on it lol i send it when i figure it out
August 25, 2008 at 7:39 pm
True lol
August 25, 2008 at 7:45 pm
Trader Joe’s is too healthy for my taste, but I can see Jason shopping there. I get their pistachio nuts when I’m there. Ha!
August 25, 2008 at 8:20 pm
Hi, i only posted twice, but this website is the first thing i check as soon as i turn on my computer.
Does anyone have Hi5? I thought it could be a good idea that we share our pages. What do you think?
August 25, 2008 at 8:45 pm
I was able to get on first class…yea perks! Next time I’m in LA, I will check out Trader Joes. I think I need to hang out at Cafe Med as well…
August 25, 2008 at 8:46 pm
Hello Girls – so we are only up to post #49? I just got back from school, and I am catching up.
For those interested, you can see the UK version of Revolver on youku (which is the Chinese youtube, I think). Here are the links -
http://v.youku.com/v_show/id_XMTEwMDI4Mjg=.html
http://v.youku.com/v_show/id_XMTEwMDI4NTI=.html
It’s a 2 parter. It has the stuff that was cut out of the second one. I don’t think Guy made it easier to understand when he tried to “tighten it up”.
The elevator scene for one is completely different, and much better, I think.
And – for those of you who haven’t seen London more than once, give it a try. He is quite fine.
I think it is funny when these interviewers tell him all he does is car and action movies. They haven’t seen all his work, obviously.
August 25, 2008 at 9:11 pm
If you do go to Cafe Med, DO NOT eat the seafood! I can’t tell you how many people I’ve talked to that’s become ill after eating it.
August 25, 2008 at 10:17 pm
Jayfans, let us not throw in the towel. It’s only the first week. It’s not over till the fat lady sings and I have not emitted the first note.
August 26, 2008 at 6:56 pm
JLM, I think you get the picture with your friends, they are not Jay fans so they try to rag on you a bit. Who do they like? Reverse it on them. As for Jay looking a mess, define mess. I don’t always look like a fashion model when I go shopping, more like a haint (hope you know what a haint is).a Southern term for some thing that haunts houses. Flip flops, I thought that was standard issue for just hanging out.
