Devon Aoki, who was in ‘War’ (but didn’t really have any scenes with Jason), sounded like a true Jason Statham fan recently when she talked to MTV.   Okay, I know most of us didn’t really care for her in the movie.   She wasn’t a very good actress, she didn’t add much to the film.  I even read someone comment about her looking like Grandpa Munster in IMDB.   Those people can be brutal at that site!   Funny, but brutal.   But she does know a sexy man when she sees one.

DEVON AOKI THINKS JASON STATHAM HAS IT ALL. We’ve seen the gorgeous Devon Aoki in the likes of 2 Fast 2 Furious and Sin City, and now she appears in the Jet Li/Jason Statham flick War. The fighting duo appeared together in The One, but they didn’t get to throw down onscreen until this latest movie. Devon was impressed with Jason’s fighting prowess. “Somehow, you know, Jason Statham manages to ooze that, like, charming sex appeal thing while he’s doing it. It’s really weird and I only think a handful can have it all.” War also stars Luis Guzman and it’s in theaters now.

Thanks to alert Jason fan redsaturn for telling us about a couple of Jason videos over on the Yahoo News service!   Here are the links.  I hope they stay there long enough for all of you to catch them!

As you all know, Jason is in Montreal to film ‘Death Race 3000′ right now.  Comments in IMDB have alluded to known and possible sites for the shooting of the movie as witnessed by residents.

  • a steel plant in the South Shore of Montreal
  • in Mittal Canada ou ArcelorMittal Canada (the new name) in Contrecoeur, Quebec Canada
  • on Lucien L’Allier (Parking on Overdale) around 1st September
  • “They have been working on the old rail yards behind my place for months now, getting ready for shooting. It is a enormous operation indeed. “

If there are any Jason fans following this post in those areas….please, please let us know if you see or hear anything.  I don’t encourage stalking, but if you happen to see Jay in your store, restaurant or neighborhood, tell him we said ‘Hi!’

The positive reviews of ‘War’ are making their way through the media pipeline.  I found another good review in ScreenDaily.com by a Tim Grierson.  He liked Jason’s performance and had nothing but good things to say about him.    Betsy Pickle from Scripps News seems to have liked ‘War’, too.   Except I have one thing to say to Betsy….and that is, why did she have a problem with an FBI agent having a British accent?  We probably have FBI agents with all kinds of accents in real life.  How much do you wanna bet that Jason’s sexy voice, accent or no accent, got her all hot and bothered anyway?

There are reviews of ‘War’ out there that I could share with you, but I chose not to because close-minded critics don’t usually write the best ones.  However, this one deserves a link.  Finally there’s someone out there that was open to enjoying the experience.  Thank you Andrew Alderman!   Oh hell…I just put the whole article here.  It was worthy.

Action-packed “War” a pleasant surprise

You’ve seen my ‘War’ review.  Now you can see our exciting trip to see ‘War’ documented here with pictures, no less!   We arrive at the beautiful Kerasotes theater.  Feels like we’ve come upon Mecca!  Can you hear the harps and angels sing?

Thanks to Tuxon2002 over at the Jason messageboard who is sooooo amazing!  Here’s an Entertainment Weekly scan courtesy of he/she that just rocks!  Thank you for your hard work!  I’ve uploaded the scans to the Jason gallery for all of us.

The Disclaimer:   Keep in mind that I am not a movie critic.  I’m just a fan like you who happened to see Jason Statham, bigger than life on a movie screen this weekend.  I will be biased.  There will be squeeing throughout this review…no doubt about it.

Having said that, what a movie!  I’m spent!  Seeing Jason on the screen after almost a year since ‘Crank’ was awesome!  I only wish they had concentrated on him more.  There were too many secondary characters to contend with and too much dialogue from all of them throughout the film.  Whoever said that there wouldn’t be many words and more action obviously didn’t see the movie.  I wish there had been more action and fight scenes.  What little it had was filmed too close, and the editing was very choppy.  Why didn’t they let Corey Yuen direct the stunt shots?

Check out Jason’s BET Network appearance that I’ve uploaded to YouTube.  Once again, with YouTube,… you know they can take it off at any moment so I’ve also put it on megaupload as well.   (UPDATE:  YouTube has taken the video off of their site due to ‘third-party notification by Viacom International Inc. claiming that this material is infringing.’  Rats!)

Jason looked really thin, almost skeletal, very pale and very tired and he wore a jacket over his usual jeans and dark brown shirt.   I’m thinking he was tired from the plane ride (LA to NY) and sitting around waiting to get on air in the freezing cold green room.   Of course, he has already explained that he had to lose a lot of weight in preparation for filming of ‘Death Race’ so there’s no need for alarm.  He plays an inmate/prisoner so obviously he would be somewhat thin, but still buff.  I’m sure he’ll gain some weight back after shooting is over.

Well…it looks like Canadian critics were allowed to screen ‘War’ before anybody else because their reviews abound.  Here’s one from The Calgary Sun.  Here’s a female perspective from Canada.com.  And yet another woman writer at Canoe.ca London Ontario.

Read these reviews at your own risk.  I don’t know if there are spoilers or not because I chose not to read them myself.  At least, not until I’ve seen the movie.  I’m finicky that way.  I don’t want to know what other people thought about the movie or what wasn’t  in the trailers before I actually see it all for myself.   I fear that I’m too excited about seeing this movie.  You know how you work yourself up into a frenzy only to be let down because your expectations were too high?  But I’m hoping ‘War’ lives up to my expectations.
