April 2007

The writers/directors of ‘Crank’ have said the next ‘Crank’ movie will definitely be a sequel and not a prequel.  They say they don’t want to sell out.  The sequel will take up where the last one left off.  There’s even speculation that the storyline will concentrate on the Amy Smart character.  Oh yeah…we really want to see that sequel (sarcasm).  Why even do it without Jason?  The whole movie was based on his character, although I doubt that he would even come back for that one.  Pretty lame.  Most of us went to see ‘Crank’ to begin with because of Jason, not Amy.

According to this article Jason spent last night rocking out to the Red Hot Chili Peppers at the Coachella Festival in the Hollywood desert.  I guess, that answers the question of whether or not he was going to be in London for the A1GP Motorsports event this weekend.  Well…we know where he is right now and that’s all that matters.  Didn’t peg him for a RHCP fan, but I can picture him rocking out to the music.  I thought he was more of a hip hop/rap kind of guy.

Looks like the ‘Crank’ sequel is a go.  The writers/directors of the first movie have said they are definitely going to do it.  Whether Jason is a part of it or not remains to be seen.  I think Jason’s plate is pretty full for the next year or so what with ‘Death Race’, ‘Transporter III’ and….oh yeah…’The Brazilian Job’ (if they ever get around to it).  I’m sure that not being cast in a ‘Crank’ sequel won’t hurt him.  Good to see him becoming more and more popular and known by movie-goers and the industry.

According to this article, the Gumball Rally 3000 and A1GP Motorsports are joining forces to celebrate the end of one racing series and the start of another.  It mentions that five cars from the Rally will start off on their trek to Asia and back.  Wonder if Jason will be in one of the cars slated to be there?  The Gumball Rally combines racing with partying which seems right up Jason’s alley.  I haven’t read any definite confirmation that Jason will be racing, but most of the articles about the Gumball have said he will.  Maybe to Marco’s delight, Jason could visit his favorite girl, Shu Qi while he’s in Asia…if the race goes as far as Hong Kong, that is!

Jason attended the L.A. premiere of ‘The Condemned’ on Monday, April 23rd in support of his best friend Vinnie Jones who is in the movie.  Our guy looked hot in a dark suit and with his trademark stubble.  Looks like a good time was had by all!

ET Online has reported that ‘Death Race’ will start filming in late summer or early fall.  They haven’t said where it will be filmed, but it’s about a cross-country race so I assume, of course, it will be in the U.S. and probably many places made to look like different states.  I read the IMDB synopsis of the original movie and there will be fight scenes between the two main characters.  Hotdog!  Also, there could be possible sex/love scenes because the drivers in the movie have navigators that double as concubines.  Finally…will we see Jason really in a hot sex scene…and not like that wimpy one in The Transporter?   Can’t wait to see who else they will cast.

It’s being reported today that Jason has signed up to do ‘Death Race’.  Sounds like an action film that’s right up his alley.  Jason gets to show off his driving skills again and, no doubt, do lots of his own stunts.  According to the Hollywood Reporter, they’ve changed the title to exclude ‘3000′.   This article says that the movie is a remake, but I’ve read articles contrary to that.  Many of them say that the story concept is the same as the original 1975 film, but the characters have been changed.   Here’s another article and this one says that Jason will play a character from the original named Frankenstein (Frank for short…haha).  There’s a lot of mixed information coming in right now, as you can imagine.  Oh well…most of us have never seen ‘Death Race 2000′ anyway so it doesn’t really matter.

This is the first I’m hearing of it, but according to this article, our Jason is participating in the Gumball Rally this year!  In the past, I know he’s expressed an interest in doing auto races, but this is a crazy one.  I hope he doesn’t get hurt.  I wonder if Vinnie will be his co-driver?

The Gumball 3000 features an outlandish cast of drivers from the worlds of film, fashion, finance, and music in a party-fueled adventure around the world. This year’s rally goes from London to Asia and back, and drivers set to participate include actors Hayden Christensen and Jason Statham, rapper Xzibit, and musicians Jay Kay and Huey Morgan.  The Gumball 3000 is the only rally to test driver endurance with a series of exclusive parties that are as much a part of the experience as the rally itself. Past participants include Oscar winner Adrien Brody, director Quentin Tarantino, Jackass star Johnny Knoxville, and extreme sports legend Tony Hawk.

Did you miss me?  We had a wonderful time in Vegas!  A little gambling, a lot of food and absolutely no sleep.  Sorry to report that I didn’t see Jason there.  I was hopeful and had my camera phone ready and willing.  There hasn’t been much news concerning Jason since I’ve been gone.  We can all thank God that Jason won’t be the Hulk.  Edward Norton has taken the role.  Why even do a remake of the Hulk?  From all accounts, the first one sucked to high heaven.  The other bit of news is that the World Stunt Awards is airing on May 25th and they’re gathering their presenters right now.  Jason has presented an award in the past and maybe he’ll do it again if he’s not too busy.

I’ll be taking a much needed vacation next week and won’t be posting until I get back.  We’re going to Vegas to find our fortune!  Maybe I’ll see Jason there if he’s vacationing too!  I know that they say ‘What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas’, but if I do see Jason, I promise to share all the details.  You might even see it on the news if I get close enough to jump his bones.  Just kidding.  Anyway, I’m not taking a computer, and I’m not planning to be near a computer next week.  I don’t think I could post anything in the condition I’ll be in anyway.
